Practice Experience

Including clinical practice for a 4 year MSc. training,  I have been a practicing psychotherapist for 14 years, working predominantly in a Counselling & Psychotherapy Service within a Tusla Family Support Project in Cork City. This service was based in a disadvantaged are in the Northside of the city the, where I provided support to many individuls including struggling parents and families, through the use of individual therapy as well as group facilitation.  It was here that I developed a special interest in Trauma which led me to further trainings and development in that area.

In May 2020 I became the Therapeutic Clinical Lead within the psychotherapy service, managing referrals, assessments and allocations and daily operations within the sevice, as well as maintaining my clinical work with clients.

Between 2018 and 2024 I also provided community counselling & psychotherapy in Macroom, Co. Cork, as part of a service facilitated by Tusla and The CDYS. Within that service I also wrote and facilitated many mental health workshops for the Goodlives Adult Learning & Training Initiative, within the town.

In November 2023 I was delighted to get the chance to set up a part time psychotherapy service in Killarney Town and have, since December 2024, turned that into a full time practice.
